Memorial Service for Sue Arner
Sue A. Arner
Sue Ann Arner, 90 of Boyne City, Michigan, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 17, 2026. Sue was born and raised in Northern Michigan, the daughter of Howard and Juanita Somerville. She attended Boyne City High School and married her high school sweetheart, Donald Arner, in 1950. Sue and Don started their 49 years together in Bay City, Michigan and eventually moved to the Detroit suburb of Garden City where they raised their four children. Upon Don's retirement from the railroad, Sue and Don returned to Boyne City where she lived the rest of her days. The most important thing in Sue's life was family. She loved being around relatives and always believed, the more, the merrier. Family gathering with Sue always provided things to look forward to, like her potato salad or her chocolate milkshakes served in cowboy boot glasses. She also had a wonderful talent for decorating, with her home always providing that neat, yet cozy feeling, that only a Grandma could provide. Sue worked several part-time jobs over the years, but it was family that always came first.
Sue is survived by her children, Shari Arner of Oaklyn, New Jersey, Tim Arner (Janet) of Gaylord, MI, Shelly Weir of Boyne City, MI, and Todd Arner (Tricia) of Saginaw, MI; sisters, Trudy Ogden of Gaylord and Linda Richardson of Norwood; MI; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Don; her parents; brother, Alan Somerville and sister, Chonnie Wiersma.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Christ Lutheran Church in Boyne City. In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation to the American Cancer Society or Christ Lutheran Church in Boyne City.
